Manudey Sohi (Udey) has over 12 years of professional structural engineering experience after completing his education at Purdue University (B.S., 2010) and University of California, Berkeley (M.S., 2011). Udey’s goal is to be a dependable and responsive consultant by listening intently and tailoring structural solutions based on solid fundamentals and a first principles approach that goes beyond code knowledge. He believes that successful project management is akin to speaking sentences backward – where the consultant has a clear vision of the final product and the necessary steps required to achieve it while being mindful of the potential pitfalls and proactively addressing them. Udey’s approach, coupled with a high degree of personal accountability, attention to detail, and pride in his work results in a successful project delivery and repeat clientele.
Udey has experience in the design and management of projects ranging from large-scale multiblock development projects, including hotel, residential and apartment buildings, mid-rise and high-rise office towers, and hospitals, to unique stand-alone sculptures. He has experience working on geometrically complex structures such as long-span trusses, numerous feature stairs including helical geometries and cantilevered spans, ASCE 41 seismic evaluations, and retrofit of historic buildings. He also specializes in vibration analysis and mitigation for stairs, footbridges, lab floors housing sensitive equipment, ballrooms, and dance floors. Prior to joining MBC in 2021, he worked at Magnusson Klemencic Associates in Seattle and Nabih Youssef Associates in Los Angeles.
While Udey played competitive golf growing up, he currently enjoys training for and competing in various tennis leagues in the East Bay.
