Gordon has nearly a decade of professional experience in structural building Revit modeling. He worked across a range of project types from initial concept through construction and completion.
One of the challenges he’s enjoyed most is working on excavation projects, particularly when it comes to designing retaining walls and foundations. He finds it fascinating to see how different materials, soil conditions, and load-bearing capacities come together to ensure stability. For example, the soil in the Sunset District is loose and sandy, while a couple of miles away in Chinatown, there is bedrock and compacted soil, making it more seismically stable. Gordon has a real sense of satisfaction in making sure the foundation is solid because everything else relies on it. Plus, it’s a process that requires both technical expertise and a thorough understanding of the environment surrounding the structure.
The projects that Gordon had worked on recently include: 2121 Wood Street, Oakland; Mayfair, El Cerrito; Prescott Station, Oakland; and Bayview, Mountain View.
