Alex Filatov is a registered Civil Engineer in California with over 35 years of experience since receiving his Master of Applied Science in Structural Engineering from Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture in Ukraine. He has been with Murphy Burr Curry (MBC) since 2003, and became a Principal in 2017. Prior to joining MBC, Alex worked with Holmes Structures (formerly Holmes Culley) as Senior Project Engineer/Project Manager.
Alex has a strong background in design, seismic evaluation, and retrofit of reinforced concrete, steel, masonry and timber structures.
Some highlights of projects he has been responsible for the design of include:
- Numerous schools in San Francisco Bay Area including new buildings for Hamlin, Urban and Town Schools in San Francisco, St. Matthew’s School in San Mateo and Nueva School in Hillsborough.
- Seismic retrofit, renovation and repairs of numerous historical buildings in San Francisco including Proper Hotel at Market – McAllister streets and Sherman Clay building at Sutter – Kearny streets.
- Seismic Retrofit and renovation of Strawberry Creek HUD Senior Housing in Berkeley.
- Planned Parenthood Northern California flagship Health Center in San Francisco.
- New high-end urban condominiums including buildings at 750 Second Street and 2559 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco.
- Additions and alterations to the high-end single-family residences in Pacific Heights and Marin.
- Numerous high-end retail stores in San Francisco and Los Angeles, including Tiffany, Chanel and Cartier.
- New Mercedes-Benz of San Francisco Showroom and Service Center in South San Francisco.
