MBC Junior Engineers are recent graduates (or professionals with generally less than five years of real-world work experience) who bring specialized knowledge and an interest in structural design utilizing steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.

We look for Junior Engineers with a strong academic background and an eagerness to learn and embrace new challenges while working alongside a team of seasoned engineers and mentors. Junior Engineers at MBC are expected to start “thinking outside of the box” to solve design problems and understand that getting the job done means delivering high-quality work while being mindful of our clients’ time and budget constraints.

Annual compensation for this full-time position ranges from $75,000 to $100,000 based on experience. Job duties, responsibilities, and benefits for this at-will position are detailed below.

 

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Site visits and key structural observations.
  • Compiling essential design criteria and load take-offs.
  • Gravity and lateral design of structures.
  • Preparation of working drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Coordinating projects between project managers, CAD staff, and others.
  • Use of expertise to review and interpret technical documents from other consultants (geotechnical engineering reports, civil engineering plans, etc.).
  • Preparation of engineering reports.
  • Review of shop drawings for compliance with construction contract documents.
  • Assist with the issuance of field instructions, response to RFIs, change orders, and other construction administrative documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • BSCE (or related, specialized degree).
  • Self-motivated individual and fast learner.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and technical writing skills.
  • Knowledge of lateral and gravity design utilizing wood, steel, masonry, and concrete systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD and Revit, structuring modeling programs (RISA, ETABS, ADAPT) is preferred.
