MBC provided Structural Engineering services for a new facility for Mercedes-Benz of San Francisco. Our scope of services included seismic improvements, alterations, and remodeling of the existing two-story masonry and steel building at 2245 Gellert Avenue, originally occupied by Orchard Supply Hardward, and the construction of the new building at 2215-2239 Gellert Avenue in South San Francisco, California. The client intended to use the buildings to accommodate all aspects of their operation (sales, service, car wash, and various offi ce and administration areas). This required seismic strengthening of the existing partially grouted CMU walls with new shotcrete, adding new interior concrete shear walls, replacing the existing metal roof with a new steel deck diaphragm, installing new wall ties, and reinforcing the existing shear wall foundations.

The project was completed in 2022.
