The 25,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Center of Music and Arts Education is now home to the Community School of Music and Arts, a 35-year-old non-profit organization in Mountain View. Murphy Burr Curry, Inc.'s design and services focused on a two-story reinforced concrete building, with classrooms, practice rooms and a recital hall surrounding a central, open courtyard. Project specifications included using the mass of concrete and masonry to increase acoustic absorption and minimize sound transmission between spaces. The project earned an AIA Award of Excellence in Design in 2004.
