The renovation of this major San Francisco landmark was critical to the redevelopment of the mid-Market area. Murphy Burr Curry, Inc. provided a performance-based seismic design for one of the buildings, which was formerly home to the Western Furniture Mart. Both buildings were retrofitted to meet the current seismic code, and a new system of concrete shear core and walls was added to supplement the existing concrete structure. The buildings now provide more than 1 million square feet of office and retail space for Twitter and other ventures.
