Chapel at Cavallo Point

As a part of the adaptive reuse of the historic Fort Baker site in Sausalito, the single-story wood-framed chapel at Cavallo Point was seismically upgraded to meet the Life Safety Code for seismic performance. Murphy Burr Curry, Inc. used the existing glulam wood arch trusses as moment frames, strengthening the joints of the arch trusses as needed. Connections from the roof to the arches were enhanced, with additional shear walls added within the perimeter walls. The result was a complete seismic upgrade with no visual impact on the original structure.
