Murphy Burr Curry, Inc. partnered with Patri Merker Architects to rehabilitate and seismically retrofit this Omni Hotels building. The 18-story steel framed structure features brick masonry infill walls and reinforced concrete floor slabs. The innovative retrofit extended a reinforced concrete shear wall diagonally across the building, from corner to corner. The structural design avoided the hotel rooms and lobby space, thereby preserving full flexibility for the interior of the hotel.
