Murphy Burr Curry delivered comprehensive, start-to-finish structural engineering services for the seismic retrofit and renovation of the historic H.C. Capwell Department Store building (formerly Sears Building) in the heart of the Oakland Uptown neighborhood home to Uber’s Oakland headquarters.  The seismic retrofit includes new interior steel braced frames fronting a newly created 6 story tall interior atrium with a glass skylight. Other structural components include floor strengthening for new rooftop terraces, and interior monumental stairs.
