The Armory, 1800 Mission Street

As an historical four-story concrete building with a fully enclosed drill court, Murphy Burr Curry designed a structural retrofit for the Armory to a state of the art Internet data storage facility. The structural retrofit proposed included a full seismic upgrade of the existing concrete building with the addition of a new four-story concrete flat slab superstructure within the enclosed drill court. The retrofit included reinforced shotcrete shear walls along the interior of the existing walls as well as strengthening the existing drill court barrel roof. The new concrete superstructure within the drill court would add an additional 100,000 sq. ft. of usable data storage space to the existing 97,000 sq. ft space.
