The historic building, originally built for the San Francisco Call newspaper in 1914, has been seismically retrofitted and converted to an upscale condominium with 107 units. The retrofit includes the construction of four new reinforced concrete shear walls which extend from a new foundation to the roof. The shear walls are hidden in the building demising and corridor walls, leaving windows unobstructed. The renovation included new elevators and a new roof structural slab supporting a penthouse with four luxury units and roof decks.
