140 Maiden Lane was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright as a gift shop for V.C Morris in 1948. Today, it is an art gallery. The most notable features of the building are its brick veneer façade and interior spiral ramp leading to the second level. This Unreinforced Masonry Bearing (UMB) building required a mandatory seismic retrofit. Murphy Burr Curry, Inc. worked closely with the architect to design a seismic strengthening system which met the City's UMB ordinance and minimized intrusion into the building space.
